Macro Flowers Saturday #25

This is Pereskia Sacharosa. Locally known as Pokok Jarum Tujuh Bilah (Seven Needles Plant). The thorns are very sharp! Seriously long and sharp! It makes trimming very difficult as well. It's kinda herbal plant from the cactus family with medicinal properties. (The leaf, not the flower) It grows fast especially in tropical climate like ours in Malaysia.
I love the flowers of this plant. The colour is so bright and warm :)
It was known that chewing the leaves can help in curing diabetes, high blood pressure and even cancer. How true, I never know.. I tried chewing it and it tasted OK. Some will infuse it in boiling water and drink it and some even put it in their salad! It tasted bitter a bit, but is edible, no worry :) Even my hamster love it :D

Enjoy your weekend, my friends..

  10. I never knew it's name in Malay, there's plenty of them here in Singapore. The common name here is Rose Cactus.
